We Highlighted Our Favorite Things Offered With the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL

The 2018 Wrangler JL has arrived and it exudes the essence of the Jeep brand. The all-elements monster is bar-none the best vehicle the company has ever put on the road and it’s only the fourth generation of the model since 1986. Below highlights some of our favorite things from the redesign.

Ease of Use

Everyone loves a fully-capable 4x4 that also doubles as a convertible. But no one loves the removal and attachment process of the standard JL soft-top. The zippers coupled with impatience have never been a recipe for pre-adventure fun. Jeep realized this and addressed the problem. The 2018, thankfully, features no zippers! The new soft-top is a framework of panels that can be removed and reattached by unlatching them from the locks that hold them in place. For those who still don’t want to deal with the manual labor required for the new soft-top, there’s the Sky One-Touch power-top option, allowing you to put the roof up and down with the touch of a button.

The 2018 model windshield can fold down, a classic feature that many owners don’t know exists. Folding down the windshield was a bit of pain in the neck before. Removing four bolts enables the windshield to fold-down. They are now located on the interior of the vehicle, which is beneficial because you won’t need to worry about them corroding on the outside like in previous models. The bolts being located on the interior also means not having to worry about chipping the exterior paint.

Engine Options

There are three different options aimed to appeal to an array of buyers. The classic Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine comes standard and gets 18-23 mpg in the city and highway, respectively. Buyers have the option of pairing it with the six-speed manual transmission or the eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces 285 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque. The Pentastar is the tried and true workhorse engine of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). Bottom line: it’s going to get the job done. Also available is a 3.0-liter engine, the same one used in the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel. It produces 260 horsepower with 422 lb-ft of torque. The EcoDiesel can take B20 biodiesel and is a fairly low emissions vehicle.

The third engine is a little peek into the future. It’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It will include a 48-volt system, giving it start-stop capabilities, thus making it a mild hybrid. The system will save gas by turning off the flow of fuel when the vehicle stops or is coasting. This option will be available later in the year.

Jeep put together a user-friendly vehicle that pays tribute to its predecessors while asserting itself as one of the most technically advanced 4x4s on the road. We’re excited about it and want you to see it for yourself. Stop by Larry H. Miller Chrysler Jeep Tucson for a complimentary one-on-one info session with a member of our sales team.
